TL role

The biggest difference being a Team Lead vs being a team staff is that you are suddenly upgraded to being a mother.

Yes a mother. You gotta be firm at times, gentle at others, find ways to tell ppl things they dun like, n generally be responsible for them. No matter which way they turn out.

Just had a talk with a staff. Let's call her JC. She requested to talk to me today, is feeling pretty lost. She is contemplating whether she shld stay or go. N I realized that at the end of the day, she does not know what she wants. So screw the traditional things a TL is supposed to do i.e. retain ppl. After all this is her future.

So shared with her my observations of her n heard from her what she like n loath. But ultimately decision still upon her.

Another staff. JK. This is tougher for me for she 吃软不吃硬. Yet when u go soft on her, she pays lip service most of the time. Firm with her n she gets unhappy again. Typical gen X. What can I do?
